Most apartment communities are designated as having low income (LI) or very low income (vLI) limits. Most of the listed apartment communities require applicants to be at least 62 years old or a person with a mobility impair- ment, including sight and hear- ing impairments. Persons with these impairments do not have to reach the age of 62. Some listings presented in the publi- cation allow a wide range of age groups, but are included in this section because of the large number of senior citizens or mobility impaired person liv- ing in the apartment communi- ty. Please check the specific community to determine entrance requirements. Fortunately, many subsi- dized apartment communities do not have long waiting lists. Planning ahead is advisable and placing your name on sev- eral waiting lists is legal and certainly advisable. As an applicant you have
